Y-Paddle is a pool-based canoe club based at the Central YMCA, and all Y members are free to come along and have a go in our kayaks on a Monday night. We also run up to four beginners’ courses each year. Anyone is welcome to book a place and learn the fundamentals in the comfort of the pool.

Course bookings are managed by Central YMCA as part of their lifestyle programme www.ymcaclub.co.uk

The Central YMCA is now taking bookings for our beginners’ course starting Monday 20th April 2009.

The course will run for six weeks (excluding the Bank holidays) on Monday nights at the YMCA pool, and will include two outdoor sessions. It will teach you all the basic skills to safely handle a kayak and will take you through to the new BCU One Star award.

Early Warning: AGM and Spring Course

A little advance warning, the Central YMCA pool will be closed for our session on Monday 6th April – we’re taking the opportunity to hold our AGM that evening. It will be followed by our traditional curry.

The Spring Beginners’ Course will run for six weeks from Monday April 20th until the 8th June (excluding the two bank holidays). The Y isn’t yet taking bookings but if you’d like to be advised as soon as they are, please send us an email via our email contact form
